THE IRISH UNITY PLEDGE

The Irish Unity Pledge website was created by Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) Inc. The purpose of the site is to support the Canadian Irish Unity Pledge campaign.

The Pledge campaign was formally launched at a Forum in Toronto on November 7, 2009 entitled, A United Ireland: "How Do We Get There"? The Pledge campaign is sponsored by the Quebec Ireland Committee (Montreal), the Ottawa Group for Irish Unity, the Toronto Committee for Irish Unity, the Emerald Isle Social Club (Toronto), Durham Committee for the Irish Unity Pledge, Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) Inc., Toronto Teachers for Irish Unity and individuals across Canada. The Pledge campaign aims to win a public commitment in support of Irish unity from Canadian politicians, trade unionists, artists, athletes, Irish community groups and prominent members of the Irish Canadian community.

The wording of the Pledge can be found here and an updated list of its signatories can be found here.

We hope this website encourages discussion among supporters of the Pledge about how to win support for a united Ireland.

We encourage people and groups across Canada to win signatories to the Pledge from prominent figures in their local communities. If you are successful, please let us know by sending the signed pledge to Friends of Sinn Féin (Canada) at 131 Bloor Sreet West, Suite 200, Unite 234, Toronto, Ontario, M5S 1R8 or by email to irishunitypledge

You can get involved in winning support for the pledge by yourself, or by contacting one of the sponsoring groups at the email addresses below;
